Privacy policy

We tried to write this in plain English. The full version of each clause is below; if any part is unclear, write to support@natchatt.com and we’ll explain.

Who we are

NatChatt LTD is a private limited company registered in England and Wales. Our registered address is in London. Our team’s working address is the same. If you need to write to us for any privacy or data matter, the address is support@natchatt.com.

What we collect

When you sign up to NatChatt, we collect your phone number (used to verify your account via a one-time SMS code and to identify you to your contacts), the language pair you said you’d be using most, and your country of residence (for billing). We don’t require an email address at signup. When you use the service, we collect the technical metadata needed to bill you: how many translation requests your account made each month, broken down by request type.

We do not collect the contents of your conversations. We do not store your messages on our servers. We do not log who you talk to or when.

How translation works for your data

When you send a message, voice note, or call audio that needs translating, the contents are sent from your device to Google’s Gemini API for the duration of the translation request. Under the paid Gemini API terms, Google does not use that content to train its public models, and does not retain it after the request is completed. We do not store the request or the response on our side; we receive it from Google and pass it to the recipient.

How long we keep things

Your account profile stays until you delete it. Billing logs are kept for 90 days, then dropped. We keep invoices and the bare records the law requires for accounting purposes, for seven years.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, port, and delete your personal data. You can do most of this from inside the app, in settings, under account. For requests that require us to act manually, write to support@natchatt.com. We respond within seven days.

If you ever feel we have not handled your data well, you can also complain to the relevant authority in your country. In the UK, that’s the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Cookies on this site

We use a small number of cookies on this website. None of them are used for tracking across other sites. We use one cookie to remember if you’ve dismissed the cookie notice, and a session cookie inside the admin area if you happen to be one of us.

Children

NatChatt is not designed for use by anyone under 16. We do not knowingly accept signups from people below that age.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we’ll change the date at the top and, if the change is material, write to every account before it takes effect.
